Goal:
To work on on a project that I'm passionate about, get paid well to do it and be a part of something bigger.
Antique & Unique:
Antiques and collectibles are big business with a wide range of sites offering antique and design enthusiasts experiences ranging from research (worthpoint) to high end online shopping (1stdibs) and online auctions (liveauctioneers, bidsquare, proxibid, ebay, etc). Although useful and succesful, these sites are all about providing a service. That’s fine, but what about building a community? For several years now I’ve had a goal of developing an all-encompassing antique & collectible brand: video production, t-shirts / merchandise and a new type of antique website that serves multiple purposes, is easily accessible to everyone in the antique community and which would serve as the 'go to' site for dealers and buyers looking to connect. The primary service of the site would be to act as the most comprehensive online directory, giving any and every dealer a chance to create a free page with info, images, etc that can easily be searched by location, categories, etc. Secondly, it would be the destination for original antique and unique online content (interviews, profiles, live streaming auctions, etc) and a catalyst for future TV developement. Finally, once the dealer and user base is established I’ve always envisioned an online marketplace that could compete with the like of 1stdibs, Fab and even ebay.
Here you can see a rough sampling of how I envision this (AntiqueandUnique.com) all working:

When I started reading about Gemr and what you all hoped to achieve with the site, I couldn’t help but think that we’re working toward the same goal.
